Wedding Vids

Ya I know. Super boring but if I put these up here The Wife might be nicer to me.

Free Water

It is raining here in Bend. Like, Seattle raining. It rained last night too. I can't remember the last time it rained at night here. Years ago probably. Thunderstorms roll in usually every other afternoon and flood the streets (since we have NO storm drainage anywhere) but it is usually an hour affair and then back to sunshine. Not today. Guess the Sportster will have to wait another day.

Salmonfly Silliness

Went to the D with Whit and Code Red for a float from WS to TC. Around 600 boaters passes sold for Sat so we camped at the Riffle in WS Fri night and did a day float Sat instead of jockeying for a camp spot. Holy crowded!!!! And it was hotter than Haites.

Fished the Honey Hole Friday night.

The sky looked like this:

And the grass looked like this:

I caught some of these on dries:

Whit fished with one of these:

Then we floated Sat:

What to do when a jerk off is in almost every spot on the river?

Salmonfles were all over us:

They even wanted a hit off my PSD3 EL 2001:

But mostly they wanted to do this:

Which is fine 'cause Whit mostly wanted to do this:

But her methods didn't lead to this!

Or this!!

Bear Hunt Video

Ryan shot this video of the bear walking the beach towrads our position on a log several hundred yards down the beach. It got close and as it moved in range it slipped into the woods and came out literally right where the log we are resting on hits the woods. Ryan stopped filming literally 2 seconds before I shot and then the guide shot.

Auto's Laptop

Classic. Melted it by leaving it too close to the sun. Or something like that.

Snoqualmie Falls

Kito's Cave

Just getting the stuff together from the AK bear hunt.

The airport:

No way is Mike staying with the plane for 2 weeks here. He's getting the hell out as he worked here for many wet boozy years. I wonder if you can fill up your own plane in Oregon??

Here is a picture of a local dive bar in Petersburg where we landed. Kito's Kave. Buncha "Worlds' Deadliest Catch" types here.

And for rough love, be there Aug. 26th!

The lady in the place knew Ryan Green because she had lived in Bend years ago. Small world.

Sooutheast Alaska is always f'ing rainy.

The salon of the 78' Alaskan Grandeur. What a ship!

More after I do some work. Oh, wait, it's Friday....

New Flats Skiff

Well Queen Whitney got her red boat afterall. We picked sage green initially 'cause I said NO WAY to a red boat, all the time knowing that I was going to go behind Whit's back and change the color to red in order to suprise her. How good am I? She had no idea and was so excited to see the red rocket delivered last night. She's like a bull and I am the matador!

So, it's time to hit the water and catch some stupid freshwater fish in our new flats boat. I wonder what it will be like to pole this thing around the flats searching for tailing permit.

Added: Front Lip Underskirt

Cars and ships and the likes are usually referred to in the feminine personea (like, ain't she a bauty? or, calling your rig "Betsy" - like Dug Harrison's old Bronco). So, naturally the STi needed some prettying up in the form of a skirt. A front lip underskirt!

I think it rounds out the front very nicely. Every STi should have one stock, like some foreign market LTD's already do. Hell the holes are already in the bumper like they had planned on doing it but didn't. This is the polyurethane version, not the $500 CF version.

Now I have to watch out even more since the front end is effectively lowered by 2 inches. And I puled into a parking lot and scraped the front end underneath the bumper (non-visible) last week before even having this thing on.

Sunny This Morning

So Sunday and yesterday were nice and sunny. It was 65 degrees and today I look out the window at 3:30 and it is snowing. Gotta love Spring in The C.O.!!

X50 Test Drive

So I decided to take a test drive of Dad's X50 yesterday to see a real comparison of a $100K car versus a $30K car (the STi). Now that I have over 1,000 miles and plenty of pedal mashing I figured I could do a fair comparison side-by-side, so to speak. And, I gotta say that I like driving the STi much more. I did like the ball-busting growl of the 450 horse Porsche boxer rear-mounted engine though. But, the shifter felt like I was fingerbanging a jellyfish. It was super greasy and it is nothing like the short throw on the Subaru. On the STi you feel like you are literally shoving it into gear and the Porsche is like, well, when you go to pick up a carton of milk thinking it is full and it is really empty. Didn't like it.

The brakes though were very good (as they should be with teh $10K upgrade to ceramic garbage-can-lid-sized rotors and pads. You also sit much lower in the Porsche but I felt like the handling wasn't as crisp or responsive as the STi. These factors were purely handling and butt dyno related. The Porsche is uber nice inside but all that shit is pointless when you are hyperblasting. And what? No boost gauge on the X50? WTF?

Executive Summary:
Get the STi and spend the money you save on a small island in the Caribbean.

Dug Luvs His Whip

iPaq 6945 Sold!

I won it in a business card raffle with a late entry on a borrowed business card that I just wrote "KP" on and I drew myself! Got $500 for it in 24 hours on eBay. Thanks dude!

Hella Horns and Pinstriping

Got the Hella Supertones installed last night. Replaced one factory horn with these. Was going to do a switch to go between stock and Hellas but figured, if I am going to honk, might a well mean it. WGAF? So, they are hookedup to the relay and tripped by the factory horn's power cable. Totally sealed install bolted by brackets to the center beam in front of AC radiator.

Then I pinstriped the center piece with some 1/4" 3M reflective metallic tape. First try wasn't perfect but second try was. Looks teh sick in real life.

And in the daylight.
